A most magical day.

My most magical day started with this … a most unusual Tawny Frogmouth. Tawny basking

He was right there, basking in the sun; right beside the car space we drove into on our way to meet with writing friends — some damn special ones at that — at Bellingen’s Old Butter Factory.

The occasion turned into a pre-launch celebration for House for all Seasons and I thank Bronwyn Parry, Annie Seaton, Elle Fynllay, Shannon Garner and Jeannette for adding to the magic.

Speaking of magic … check out this gorgeous gift from Bronwyn Parry — one of her handmade pieces that I will treasure along with the matching earrings I received a year ago. And I have the perfect occasion to wear it coming up next week. (Even the gift wrapping was a perfect match for my bookmarks.)

We had water dragon drop by during lunch, and a constant stream of ‘wishes’, carried by a gentle breeze, floated right past our table. We laughed.

The magic continued when I arrived home to discover it was the day I’d been waiting for … D Day.

D stands for … Delivery Day.

The day a certain box of books arrives.

Here they come!

And here they are… (with bookmarks, ready to rock and roll those bookshops!)

My booksThe feel of them, all embossed … so shiny.

The smell … so sweet.

The extra treats inside … so spoilt.

Thank you Simon & Schuster.

Goodreads Giveaway ~ House for all Seasons

Bookmarks House for all SeasonsTime to celebrate…

To celebrate one month to go (not that I’m counting … much!) until the official March 1 release of House for all Seasons (in one month’s time, or have I mentioned that already?), I am giving away another copy of House for all Seasons WITH one of my lovely bookmarks. And who doesn’t love a book giveaway — not to mention a matching bookmark?!

Unlike the Blog Hop giveaway last week, this time you don’t HAVE to DO anything to be in the running. Just enter using the Goodreads widget below. (If you’re not a Goodreads member, I recommend you sign up. It’s easy, and Goodreads is a great service for people who love to read.) Entries remain open until 25 February, so no rush.

Of course, should you feel like sharing some country love by telling your friends about the giveaway, or sharing this givaway on Facebook, Twitter, etc, karma may reward your goodness. (Besides, if your friend wins tell them they will have to share with you!) I have trusted karma all these years and it has brought me to this point … to one month to go (in case I hadn’t mentioned that already!!) I am so into karma, I named one of my characters Karma.

Yes, I am a tad excited and cannot wait to mail out a copy of my novel on March 1, hot off the press, to one lucky person.

About my March 1 Online Event …

It will be a big day here on the blog too with special guests all the way from Canada to help kick the celebrations along. Put the 1st of March in your diary so you don’t forget (or subscribe to my blog and I’ll be sure to remind you!). In the meantime, enjoy Author Harvest’s next guest. One of my Simon & Schuster buddies, Kate Belle, whose book The Yearning is also due for release this year.

A Guessing Game, A Book To Win, A Blog To Hop

While many, many people have inspired me in some weird and wonderful ways over the years, there is a group of Australian authors who have definitely influenced my writing.

Call it cocky, quirky or crazy, I used to amuse my ‘unpublished’ self by writing an author into each novel, never imagining:

a) I would be published and

b) the author – with title – would escape an editors red pen.

Guess what? I AM published (soon) and the author’s name DID stay in the final version of House for all Seasons, out March 1. (Pre-order here).

But which author gets a mention?

HINT: It can’t be Lisa Heidke and Bronwyn Parry as I have already included them in novels yet to be published — like this.

From The Simmering Season (coming 2014)

Maggie refused to get up before she’d read at least three chapters of her latest Lisa Heidke novel. The author had a knack of portraying motherhood and the every day, showing real woman struggling to balance work, family and dreams, just like Maggie. Only in fiction there was a guarantee of happy ever after.

Bronwyn Parry features in one of my favourite (and earliest) works – which means it may never see the light of day!)

From MOSAIC…

Throwing open the flap on her knapsack, Gina took a quick inventory: denim shorts; a black, cheesecloth top; beach towel; the super, scrunch-it-up-all-you-like jacket she’d owned for years; her new digital camera and the latest Bronwyn Parry novel.

So… are you a smartie? Can you correctly guess which author made it into House For All Seasons?

Any one who leaves a correct guess on this post today (Thursday 24-01-13) will automatically get one extra entry in my Australia Day Blog Hop Book Giveaway -starting Friday 25 at 12 noon (AESD) – on this blog. So leave your guess now and pop back on the weekend, read the Australia Day Blog Hop post, and you can double your chance of winning.

If you want another hint, you will find the author’s name on this list (my ‘most read’ Goodreads data).
