Inspired as always by some great Aussie authors, I decided to reposition myself (oh, that sounds a bit uncomfortable!)
I love tags like Bronwyn Parry and Helene Young’s: “Gripping romantic suspense in Australia’s wild places” and Fleur McDonald and Fiona Palmer’s “Heart-warming sagas of love and life on the land”.
So I thought…how can I capture the essence of my women’s fiction novels.
I came up with these which I kinda like.
Come home to the country with Aussie author Jenn J McLeod
or
Jenn J McLeod: Women’s fiction set in small towns on the edge of Austalia’s big country.
or
any variation of the above!
Then of course there’s the author pic. I was going to try kissing a horse like Mandy Magro’s picture (if you haven’t seen it, you’ll find this new Penguin author on face book. It’s a fantastic photo) but the last time I got that close to a horse I nearly lost my nose – yes it was a little sunburned and probably resembled a tasty carrot!) So no horse for me.
Oh, the things I do to get out of writing LOL
Hi Jenn,
I like 'come home to the country' better. But I think describing your writing as 'women's fiction' doesn't do it justice.
And as for kissing a horse! You could try hugging a cow. Or, and this is GREAT, milking one! Lordy lord, the possibilities are endless now I'm on a roll. What about smooching with a pig?
Whatever you do, don't hire me as your publicist!
XXXXXXXX
Does your picture have to have an animal? Why not a rural background or hint of ruralness like leaning against an old woolshed doorjam or leaning on a wooden fence with a field in the background? Sitting on a haybale? Leaning against a piece of machinery?
I think you get the idea.
When I do photo shoots with people I get a variety and then choose the best. Great thing is, if you do a variety of shots for your author photo you'll have a selection for your media or press kit – great promo stuff.
What do you mean, trying to get out of writing? Get back to work you soon to be published author, no slacking off here, that is for us still aspiring authors. LOL.
I like 'Come home to the country' and I love the pic you have on the blog very natural and counrty.
Okay, I'm back to editing.
